Truth from the mouth of Kamry Kate :)

It has been over a year since I've blogged!  We've had a really crazy, and really amazing year!  Not too long after my last post Casey and I were completely convicted that God wanted us to homeschool our soon to be kindergartener.  Since I had said less than two months before that, "I could NEVER homeschool!  Great for some people, but NOT FOR US!", this was quite the change.  It took a little getting used to (for me and some family) but a year later, things are going great!  Do I have my days?  Yes.  Some days Casey comes home from work and I tell him I'm headed to work the next day.  Where?  Who knows.  I just know I'm not staying home another day! :)  It lasts a few hours.  Then I'm okay.  Jacie is thriving...reading really well, math is pretty easy for her (hoping it picks up for first grade!), hates copywork, you know, typical kindergartener. :)  We've read some great books, finishing up the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and have read almost all of Thornton Burgess' books.  She loves to read!  Wonder where she gets that from?  Ask Jenny....

So why blog after not blogging for such a long time? 

Today at lunch we had something really cool happen, and I need to document it.  (Casey's orders.) 

This morning we made Resurrection Rolls...there are several recipes floating around, google it and you'll see how they fit with Easter week.  We read John 19 while the oven was preheating, so the girls were hearing about Jesus dying on the cross.  We finished up, and the girls went to their room to play "kids" (i.e. house) while Eden and I made lunch.  When they came back, their food was on the table, but I was still getting mine and Eden's ready, so they prayed on their own.  That spurred this conversation:

Kamry: "I was praying last night in my head so I didn't wake up Jacie, and I told Jesus thank you for dying on the cross. And you know what he said?"

Me: "What did he say?"

Kamry:

"He said he would do it over and over again."

At this point I was speechless, a mess of goosebumps, and almost in tears.  I guess I don't know how to explain it, other than I knew God had spoken to Kamry in a way that she could articulate in that specific sentence, and I knew he had spoken to me through her.  You teach your kids to pray in hopes that they make it a regular habit, but man how I don't understand the amazingness of God, because I was floored that she'd heard a response from Him.  Where's MY faith?

Do any of us realize the cost of Jesus' death on the cross?  How many of us would line up to sacrifice OUR children to save other people?  Sorry, people.  Not this girl.  But God sacrificed his son, Jesus, for us.  For you!  And He'd do it OVER and OVER again.

February Thunderstorm!

I used to want to be a meteorologist.  I subscribed to some meterologist email list in HS and became the resident weather informant for the WCHS Softball team (Go Lynx!).  I'm a nerd.  I love weather, Doppler, and Casey's got the NWS bookmarked, so he's cool too.  So you can see how I was totally excited about our recent Iowa weather craziness.  So I can't believe it really happened (had to ask Casey if I was having a weird dream last night!) but we enjoyed a good ol' Iowa thunderstorm early this morning, on February 20th!  There were some serious lightening strikes followed by some angry sounding thunder.  The only little one to peep was Jacie, she informed us before she went to bed that she DOES NOT like thunder, and she heard in the car on the radio that the man said the word THUNDER.  Casey took them on a sprinkled donut run so they'd have some tasty treats for Sunday morning and he's a talk radio junkie, so she heard the weather en route.  This girl does not miss a thing.  So she called in Daddy for some reassurance, and he reassured her that he would check the Doppler (she told him to).  :)

This has got our family ITCHING for spring!  Who isn't, I know!  But seriously it makes me so thankful that God gave us the changing seasons, as much as I tell Casey that I could live in Seattle where it's rainy and 55 degrees all day everyday, I do love seeing how God gives us a break always right when we feel like we can't take it any longer.  He's cool like that.  :)

So the girls are keeping us busy and laughing...they're full of life all of the time.  How they can jump off their bed first thing in the morning going 90 miles an hour, I will never get.  I'm good around 10AM.  No sooner.  Just ask Casey.  :)

SLEDDING!  We seriously have the best sledding hill in our backyard, and Casey knows all the routes.  He has them memorized from when he was 10 years old.  :)

Here we go again...

Nope, you can all breathe a collective sigh of relief, we're not pregnant again.

We're moving!  Casey and I have always wanted to end up living somewhere close to Lake Red Rock, and he was just offered a promotion to manage the public hunting ground in and around that area!  We couldn't be more excited to be closer to family!  That said, it's going to be tough leaving our 8th home together (no joke).  Eden was born here, and Kam has lived more than half of her life here!  Jacie has been a part of a great preschool, tumbling, and AWANA, and we have been blessed to meet some really fun people.  We'll miss you all.  I had to drop the bomb on the gals I work with today, and it was sad, I made my two fellow ultrasound techs cry!  I will SO miss you, Trina and Kris!  Maybe the guilt trip will get me back on facebook...we'll see.  :)

So we're in for a crazy Christmas, moving in between two family celebrations, but then again, if it wasn't crazy busy, we wouldn't be the Trine family.  New mission:  Grow some roots!  :)

On a little bit different note, our 5 1/2 month old started sitting up last week.  She's quite proud of herself!

Found these adorable aprons for the girls for Christmas!  The girls LOVE helping me cook, so much that I just recently hauled in their little play kitchen into the big kitchen.  I'm going to have Kamry's be turquoise and Jacie's pink.  I just wish they had a matching bib for Eden!! :)

Race for the Cure 2010

October 23rd, the Trine clan (minus Kam and Eden) walked in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  We started this last year in honor of my mother-in-law, Ann, a breast cancer survivor.  It's a good time for us all to get together, and remember the road she's been on.  God is good, and we're so thankful for his healing in our lives!

On the way home, survivors received roses as they finished the race, so Mema Trine sent them home with Jacie.  She was excited, as you can tell!

All of the Trine's, minus Kamry and Eden.  Casey wasn't able to really do the 5k this year because of his back, so we left the younger two at home.  I can't push a double jogger and the Graco by myself! :)  Jacie did the entire race without a stroller, thanks to Papa Trine and Uncle Kelly's shoulders once in awhile.

This girl is our Entertainment.  I capitalized it on purpose.  Even Eden watches Kam in anticipation of what she might do next.  This morning Kamry and I were eating breakfast while Jacie was at preschool and we were talking about going to Mema and Papa Trine's this weekend for Thanksgiving, and she says, "Will Jay and Tammy be at Mema's Giving?"  (Jay and Tammy are my parents and she NEVER calls them that, it's always Mema and Papa Flora).  She loves getting a raised eyebrow for the silly things she says.  Kamry has been talking in sentences since 14 months, so talking with her is definitely like having a little conversation with a teeny tiny adult.  Here are some pictures of what Kamry Kate's been up to lately.

Loves to get in carseats, this is Jacie's upgrade from her Britax Roundabout that she was just getting too big for...a Britax Frontier 85.  We are on the road way too much to compromise safety, keeping Jacie in a 5 pt. harnass as long as we can!
